Southport

Southport, North Carolina
July 16, 1994 - My Best Day

This is my guy - my wonderful, do-anything-for-me-and-our-family guy!  He is strong, he is a provider, he is funny, he is a fixer and a worker, and he loves us like crazy.  I am so blessed to be his wife.  And even after 21 years of marriage, we still love hanging out together.

We just returned from a quick trip to the coast.  We stayed in a town that was new to both of us.  It was an adorably quaint little coastal town right where the river meets the inter-coastal waterway and they gel before heading out to sea.

Southport homes

Southport has those old homes that are part southern and part coastal.  I could easily slide right into this sleepy little town and into one of these charming Southern Living cover-worthy houses!  Shops still close at 5:00 and it seems that the streets are rolled up for the night.  It's quiet, it's relaxing, it's definitely worth a revisit at some point!

Southport Riverwalk pier

This guy literally posed for me!  I was only about 3 feet away from him - I took multiple shots and every time he just turned and gave me a differently angle.

We took a quick ride on the ferry over to Fort Fisher for a day at the beach!  My guy is soooooo patient with my camera obsession.  He quietly holds my bag, helps me change a lens, waits while I try to get just the right shot! I'm sure I'm a pain but he doesn't complain.

You want to know how I know that he really loves me?  Well, he's a vacation-in-the-mountains kind of guy.  Yet, we are at the beach - sunning in the sand, walking along the river walk, eating dinner at a quiet, lovely restaurant, shopping in little chintzy "antique" shops...

Fort Fisher Beach Access

I honestly can say that I'm excited to spend another 21 years with my guy.  In today's world, not many married couples can say that.

He still makes me laugh!!  He still holds me when I cry.  He still makes me angry at times.  We still say we're sorry when it's needed.  He still would do anything for his family.  He gives us everything he has - no holding back!

And he even lets me take his photo!
