Spain Grad Trip - Valencia

We started our day today at a corner cafe near our Airbnb in Madrid across from El Retiro Park. It was great spot for dog watching, and if you know the Pattersons, you know we love dogs! We then packed up and headed to the train station to make our way to Valencia.

Once we arrived in Valencia, we headed to our Airbnb. The host met us (which is very different in Europe - they show up to meet you, give you a very detailed tour of the place and explain all of the ins and outs). As he was explaining he said, "Oh, I am so sorry, but the air conditioner went out and the only thing I could do on such short notice was to have this ceiling fan installed." We were all dumbfounded. He did put a few oscillating fans around the place, but MAYBE he could have taken a few moments from fan shopping to let us know!! I mean it has been 100 degrees the past two days, literally. He looked at my face and said, "Are you okay? You look like it is not okay." So while I am typing this, I am very much regretting that I didn't say, "No, I am not okay. See you later." LOL I mean the place is very Spanish and it feels like we are living in small Spanish flat with character but seriously, I need air.

Anyway, we thought, "It will cool down as it gets toward night," so we did some exploring along the streets and found a cute store which actually had the sunscreen we forgot to bring for the beach tomorrow. Along with some dog toys that you know Audrey got for our puppos back home!

Our street of the un-airconditioned Airbnb

We had tickets to the Museu de les Ciences - the Science Museum - so we grabbed a taxi and off we went. Our girlie does love some science! Honestly, it was very well done. It was an incredibly interactive museum. Lots of hands on learning opportunities and we even saw chicks hatching! And the architecture of the complex was AMAZING! The entire center is the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias - City of the Arts and Sciences.

The building on the right is the science museum.

The big structure that kinda looks like a harp is a bridge.

DNA Strand!

Baby chick, newly hatched!!

I LOVE lines in photos so this architecture was so fun!

The Museum was across the street from a giant mall so we walked over to check out the Carrafor - supposedly similar to Walmart. It was huge! And I must say, much better than a Walmart! We shopped around for bit and then headed back in the direction of the Airbnb.

Me and my favorite travel partner!

She was quite excited to find a Caffeine free Coke that wasn't diet.

Part of the Carrafor

The green grabbed my eye! It was a mushroom and spinach "burger."

We walked down to the beach area and grabbed some dinner at a restaurant along the boardwalk with a view of the Mediterranean. It is Friday night and if you know anything about the Pattersons, we have a Friday night pizza tradition. We weren't really looking for pizza but the menu had it so we gave it try! Pretty tasty!

Audrey and I then walked on the beach and tested the water temperature while Chris people watched along the boardwalk. And afterward we opted for the ice cream! Can't go wrong there!

Tomorrow is a beach day!!!
