The Truck

Telling the story of how my guy and I survived our day long expedition of purchasing and bringing this truck home to surprise our oldest-one-of-three needs to wait when there's time for a story and for another blog post entirely. Today's #KUWTP post is a celebration of rebirth for this 1972 F-100!

I'm a details shooter and I love shooting the small details of this old truck!

Not many teenage girls desperately want to drive an old truck as their first car, but ours did.  So much so that for months, she would start her truck about 20 minutes before she had to actually start driving it because if not, it didn't go into gear. This past week though the truck got a new lease on life.  This week, Audrey hopped in the driver's seat, started up good ol' John Boy, put him into gear, and off she went!!  All, entirely, because of my all-things-mechanical amazing guy!

My guy at work and our son, Jac, assisting with the jack. :-)

Now, we have rarely ever paid for anyone to work on our cars - my guy's the ultimate car fixer; however, this job was a transmission problem and he's always said that transmissions just weren't his thing.  But his little girl's truck needed transmission work so what's a dad to do... He ordered parts, downloaded video tutorials, watch and watched and set to work.  The two of them disassembled, cleaned parts as necessary, and put in new ones when needed. Not just building a transmission, but most importantly, building memories that will last long past this old truck.  Even though the two of them worked together at times, and he brought in the extra hands of my son when needed, this old truck now runs smoother because of his time and talent!

He's a fixer!  Years ago, my youngest-one-of-three summed it up - "Daddy, I brought home my friend's hair bow when she broke it at school today.  I told her my daddy could fix it... I told her that you can fix anything!"

Our girl and her truck!
