We left Berlin on Thursday morning and continued to drive in the eastern part of Germany until we reached Dresden. Dresden is a fairly large city that sits along the Elbe River. We weren't staying overnight in Dresden but planned to spend the entire day there before moving to our final destination.

| I like the bright yellow cable car against the background of historic buildings. |
Our Nutter Butter wanted to do a scenic river cruise and we do love a boat, so we grabbed some tickets and hopped on the boat not long after our arrival to the city. The cruise took us along Elbe River and narrated various sites along the riverbanks including three palaces. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for being on a boat!

 |
| I found it interesting to see such traditional German houses right next door to the modern ones like below, |
 |
| Some big homes on the other side of the river past the meadow. |
 |
| Several of the bridges across the river were more modern because the originals were bombed. |
After our 1 1/2 hour boat ride, we decided to stroll through the old part of the city. Dresden has a long history, some unsavory like the the events after the Nazi seizure of power. Dresden also suffered extensive bombing during WWII and most of its inner city was destroys and many citizens lost. Dresden became part of East Germany and not until the reunification of Germany did most of the damaged historical buildings get restored. It has some beautiful Baroque architecture!

After our walking tour, we stopped for a snack and then headed on our way!
